County Commissioners Aim For Guinness Book World Record! LEWIS COUNTY, WA – The Lewis County, Board of County Commissioners, or BOCC, had a meeting this afternoon where the commissioners expressed their excitement in the possibility of breaking a Guinness Book World Record. When asking Commissioner Sean Swope what that record might be, he said, with a sense of pride in his voice, “Look, It's no secret that us commissioners really screwed up the budget, and we really feel bad that we had to raise property taxes 3 times last year, so we're going to do something special for the people here.”

In 2024 Lewis County raised property taxes twice through Property Assessments, and once more at the end of the year due to a poorly managed budget resulting in a $17 million shortfall.

Swope continued gleefully, “ We have a real opportunity here. An opportunity to make it up to the people of this great county, and give them something they can really hang their hat on. With that being said, my fellow commissioners and I will attempt to break the world record for most property tax increases in one year for 2025!”

As Commissioner Swope was announcing the world record plan, there was what seemed like a joyful electricity in the air. It was rather contagious to say the least. “Yeeeeeeehaawwwww”, Said District 3 Commissioner Scott Brummer as he jumped up and down with excitement all while waving his cowboy hat in the air like he just went 8 seconds on a prized bull at the PBR. And although Lindsay Pollock typically shows little to no emotion, a slight smirk was starting to form on her face.

“2025 is going to be a great year”, Swope said, “ And if you think this is exciting, We'll be talking about commissioner salary increases at the next meeting!”
